About two years and a few months later, I found out I was pregnant. Did I not wish my mom was still alive? Whenever I felt pain, loneliness, or overwhelmed, I would cry hysterically. For some reason, I thought her presence would make it feel better.

After I gave birth, they took me to a postpartum ward. That’s where I realised that some of the moms were not prepared.

There is so much pressure associated with small things such as baby food, cutlery, cosmetics and even baby clothes. It is ingrained in our societies, particularly black societies, that if a child does not wear a particular clothing brand, a parent is not doing well enough.
